Like so many 2020 couples, Brooke and Mino made the tough decision to postpone their Montana wedding. While this past weekend would have been their wedding, I’m finding so much hope and joy looking back at their Malibu engagement session.
These two already know a thing or two about distance as their relationship has been long distance between LA and Vegas. They have shared many weekends together, and many adventures along the way.
One of their latest adventures was an anniversary trip to Maui. Brooke had her suspicions that Mino might propose on their anniversary. They had big plans to drive up Mt. Haleakala at sunrise and fancy dinner plans for that evening. But Mino made sure to repeatedly mention that he wasn’t into a Maui proposal…too cliché! Instead of saving Mt. Haleakala for their actual anniversary, Mino suggested they go sooner. They had just flown in from California and waking up at 3am would be much easier before they adjusted to the time difference.
As they drove up, Mino was surprised to learn the park had a strict policy: sunrise passes were required to get to the top. Despite his resilient efforts to sweet talk his way up, they had no choice but to find a scenic turn out and wait for sunrise. This turned out for the best as they avoided the tourist crowds, and made for a more romantic proposal.
Brooke had purchased some lens attachments for her phone before the trip, and Mino hid the ring inside one of the little lens pouches. The first time Brooke asked for it, Mino made up an excuse about how it was somewhere in the back of the car. But the second time she asked, he knew this was the moment! He handed her the pouch, thinking she’d open it up, reach in, and discover the ring. But to his panic, she turned the bag upside-down and started shaking it! AH! Thankfully, the ring plopped out onto Mino’s lap, instead of flying off the side of the mountain. Mino proposed, and Brooke, of course, said yes!
For their engagement session, we headed over to Solstice Canyon in Malibu. I just love how the light streams through the trees here!
Dogs Winston and Lemon came along for this Malibu engagement session. Brooke adopted Lemon almost 2 years ago, and the two pups have become super close…just like their humans!
Winston attempted to smooch Lemon while the humans were kissing, but I think Lemon wants to stay “just friends.”
We ended their engagement session at Malibu Bluffs Park, which was the perfect spot to enjoy the sunset.
