For months, Matt hid the ring. Only it wasn’t “the” ring, it was a large costume ring he picked up when they were on vacation for $18, knowing that they’d want to pick out real rings together. He waited for the right time to propose, but every opportunity he could thing of was too loud, too dark, or too crowded. As an incredibly authentic, down-to-earth couple, he wanted the moment to feel real, not forced. So he kept waiting for the moment to strike, and eventually, after an evening ( and some drinks) out with friends, it did. Late in the evening, laughing and dancing around the kitchen, Matt asked Celeste to spend the rest of their lives together. The obvious answer was “yes”, but less obvious was where on earth had Matt stashed that darn ring? After a extensive search of the house, tears of joy and laughter streaming down their faces, the ring was found! And in the backyard, underneath the moonlight, Matt officially asked “Will you marry me” before slipping the ring on Celeste’s finger.
Their Topanga Canyon wedding took place at The Mountain Mermaid; a little gem of a place tucked among rolling hills, palm trees, and lush green gardens. Celeste looked beautiful and chic in a 3/4 length Halston dress, and beaded BHLDN capelet. Matt’s sharp summer look was styled by friends Zlatan and Ajay, whose wedding I shot last year! It wasn’t long after the ceremony began before friends and family were also caught up in the emotions of the day, laughing and crying the whole way through.
While guests enjoyed pool-side cocktails, we took couples photos around the beautiful venue grounds, where peacocks roamed free! Congratulations Celeste and Matt – wishing you many years of love and adventure ahead!
