The second I connected with Sasha and Jaymi, I knew this minimalist couple’s session was going to be something special. This was not an engagement session; it was a “just because” couple’s portrait session. Sasha and Jaymi wanted to have professional photos taken to celebrate their love…and to have something other than selfies to show for it!
I’ve been wanting to delve into studio portraiture for a while and this was the perfect opportunity to try something new. To make sure we were all on the same page on the overall look and feel for this shoot, I put together a Pinterest board highlighting some inspiration. It was so hard to narrow down ideas, but since creating timeless photographs was the goal, I focused in on the simplicity of this studio setup. We used both black and white backdrops for a clean and modern look. No props, no frills, just gorgeous minimalist studio portraits! It also goes to show how impactful wardrobe can be for a photo session. Sasha and Jaymi’s first look — white tanks with denim bottoms — contrasted so beautifully against the black backdrop.
These portraits also translate beautifully in black and white! I just can’t get enough!
