Amanda and Tommy’s winter wedding in downtown LA combined multicultural elements for a day that was intimate and meaningful. The day started with a traditional tea ceremony and ended with an intimate wedding ceremony and dinner reception at the contemporary restaurant Redbird LA.
The Tea Ceremony
Family members gathered in a light-filled suite at the Intercontinental Los Angeles Downtown for the tea ceremony. Amanda looked stunning in the traditional red lace dress, as she and Tommy offered tea to their elder family members. The couple received gifts in return, and posed for portraits before changing into their western wedding attire. However, perhaps the most precious gift was the diamond bracelet Tommy gifted to her right before their first look.
DTLA Portraits
Their downtown LA wedding photos highlighted some of the city’s most recognizable architecture. We headed to the iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall where the Blue Ribbon Garden offered a sense of tranquility in the heart of the city. Rich red florals added a pop of color against the sleek backdrop of the concert’s hall graceful silver exterior. Next, the contemporary façade of The Broad Museum made for a modern minimalist photo backdrop amidst the business of DTLA. Both of these unique buildings were located just a short drive from their downtown Los Angeles wedding venue, making them a worthy pre-ceremony detour.
Ceremony & Reception at Redbird LA
The day’s elegance seamlessly transitioned into an intimate ceremony and reception at The Nest at Redbird LA. They exchanged their vows outside surrounded by family, with the regal glow of Vibiana in the background.
Amazing cuisine has been a part of Amanda and Tommy’s love story since their first date at Bestia. So it’s no surprise these two were eyeing Los Angeles restaurant wedding venues when planning their intimate event. [Side Note: check out their Engagement Session to read more about Tommy’s EPIC three-day proposal]. Redbird LA is one of my favorites restaurants for a wedding reception; the dishes are meticulously crafted, beautifully plated, and delicious to eat!
The Nest has an open air kitchen, allowing guests to watch Redbird LA Chef and Owner Neal Fraser create his culinary masterpieces as they moved indoors for cocktail hour.
For the dinner reception, Amanda and Tommy dined outside alongside an intimate guest list of about 20 family members. While the December air may have been chilly, the atmosphere was warm and filled with so much love celebrating these two (and not just because of the space heaters!)
